Booking and prices
How much does it cost to rent a quadricycle?
Renting a quadricycle costs 6,900 HUF for 30 minutes, 9,000 HUF for 1 hour, 15,300 HUF for 2 hours and 21,900 HUF for 3 hours. Bicycles start at 3,900 HUF, tandems at 5,000 HUF and e-bikes at 5,500 HUF for 30 minutes. Book online and you currently get 15% off. See the full rate card on the Prices page.
Do I need to book in advance, or can I just turn up?
You can simply turn up — no booking needed. Booking online is worth doing for the discount rather than to reserve a vehicle: we don’t hold specific vehicles for online bookings. On busy days a particular type may be out for a while, but rentals here are short and our fleet is large, so the wait is usually no more than 15 minutes.
I booked a time slot but I'm running late — what should I do?
Nothing — just come when you can. Your online booking works like a pre-paid voucher: it names a time slot, but there’s no need to let us know if you miss it, and it doesn’t expire because you were late. Turn up whenever suits you and we’ll get you riding. Do bear in mind you may have to wait a little at peak times, particularly if you’ve booked more than one vehicle.
What do I get for booking online?
A 15% discount on the on-site price, on every vehicle — that’s the benefit, and it applies until further notice. Think of it as a pre-paid voucher rather than a reservation: it doesn’t hold a specific vehicle for you, it’s simply a cheaper way to pay for the same rental.
What payment methods do you accept?
Online, we accept card payments. On site, you can pay by card, in cash, or with a SZÉP Card.
What happens if it rains?
A bit of rain or a short summer shower doesn’t stop us — we only close in harsh weather. If we do have to close and you’ve already booked, you can either ride another time or get a full refund. Just get in touch and we’ll sort it out.
Is there a minimum or maximum rental time?
The shortest rental is 30 minutes, and the longest we offer online is 3 hours. Three hours is plenty to see the whole island — most of our guests take less. If you’d like a longer rental, email us at info@gomobility.eu and we’ll arrange it.
The vehicles
Is the go-kart motorised?
No. What we call a “go-kart” is the classic quadricycle (bringóhintó in Hungarian): a pedal-powered four-seat vehicle that you pedal yourselves. There’s no engine and no racing track — you ride it along the designated paths of Margaret Island, at your own pace.
How many people fit on a quadricycle?
A quadricycle has two adult seats and two child seats. It’s not suitable for more than two adults — if you’re a group of four adults, two tandems or four bicycles will be far more comfortable.
What is the weight capacity of the vehicles?
The load capacity varies by type:
- Quadricycle: 250 kg
- Tandem bike: 170 kg
- Bicycle: 100 kg
- E-bike: 100 kg
What's the difference between a quadricycle and a tandem?
A quadricycle is a four-wheeled vehicle where you sit side by side and pedal together — two adult seats plus two child seats, so it’s the family choice. A tandem is a two-person bicycle where you sit one behind the other: faster and sportier, best for couples and friends.
What is a pedelec e-bike?
A pedelec is an electric bicycle that assists you while you pedal — there’s no throttle; the motor helps whenever your feet are turning. It keeps riding easy on inclines and over longer distances.
Do I need to wear a helmet?
Helmets aren’t required on Margaret Island, and we don’t hand them out by default — but just ask and we’ll provide one.
Do you have child seats or children's bikes?
We don’t have child seats, but we do have children’s bicycles in two to three different sizes. Availability varies, so if you’re coming with kids who want their own bike, drop us an email first. The quadricycle also has two dedicated child seats, which is the easiest option for younger children.
Location and routes
Where is the rental point?
You’ll find us at the southern entrance of Margaret Island, on the Margaret Bridge side, right in front of the fountain. Address: 1138 Budapest, Margitsziget, at the roundabout in front of the Musical Fountain.
How do I get to Margaret Island?
Take tram 4 or 6 to the Margitsziget stop on Margaret Bridge, then walk down onto the island — we’re about 10–15 minutes’ walk from either end of the bridge. Note that shared scooters (Lime, Dott) can’t be parked on the island, so they’re not a good way to arrive.
Can I ride the vehicles everywhere?
The vehicles can be used on designated routes on Margaret Island. These routes cover the entire island, so all major attractions are easily accessible.
How long does it take to go around the island?
You can cycle around Margaret Island in as little as 30 minutes if you’re mainly just riding. If you’d like to stop at the sights, rest, or explore the island’s atmosphere more thoroughly, it’s worth choosing a longer rental period.
Is Margaret Island car-free? Is it safe with children?
Most of the island is completely car-free. A single road runs across it, used by a bus line and by vehicles with a special permit — everywhere else is closed to cars. That’s why the island is such a popular spot for families and why it’s comfortable to ride with children.
What sights and activities are there on the island?
Margaret Island offers numerous attractions and activities, including the Musical Fountain, the Japanese Garden, Palatinus Strand, and the Margaret Island Open-Air Stage. For more details, visit the Margaret Island page.
Where should I return the vehicle?
Rented vehicles must be returned to the same rental point where they were picked up, at the end of the rental period.
Practical information
When are you open?
We’re open every day from 9 AM until sunset, so closing time moves with the season:

Our season runs from spring until at least the end of November, and depending on the weather we sometimes stay open into December. Winter opening varies from year to year, so if you’re planning a late-autumn or winter visit, check our Google listing or email us before you travel. We close in harsh weather.
Do I need ID or a deposit?
Yes. We hold a photo ID for the duration of the ride, and depending on the vehicle and the size of your group our team may also ask for a cash deposit of up to 30,000 HUF. Your ID is handed back when you return the vehicle, and the deposit is returned in full provided it comes back in the same condition.
We accept any photo ID except passports — we won’t take those. A driving licence, a national ID card or a student card all work. If the ID card you’re travelling with is the only document you have on you, tell us and leave a different one instead.
Is there a minimum age? Do I need a licence?
There’s no fixed age limit and no licence is needed — none of our vehicles are motorised. Riders under 18 need an adult present, and it’s the accompanying adult’s call whether a child is able to handle a given vehicle safely.
Can I bring my dog?
We don’t ban pets, but none of our vehicles are set up to carry them — there are no baskets on the bikes and no safe spot on the quadricycle. Unless your dog is happy to sit on your lap for the ride, we’d suggest leaving them at home.
Do you rent to groups or for events?
Yes. We can accommodate larger groups outside peak hours, arranged in advance — email us at info@gomobility.eu and we’ll work out the details. We also supply vehicles for events, including off the island; see the Events page.
